1. Normal nail: A normal toenail has a natural curve where the edges of the nail do not curve towards the nail groove. The nail surface is pink and glossy.

2. Mild ingrown toenail: The toenails on both sides of the nail edge bend into the nail groove, which will inevitably cause pain.

3. Moderate ingrown toenail: The onychomycosis will roll inward into the nail groove and embed into the flesh. You will feel a slight foreign body sensation or pain, and the nail folds on both sides will be obviously red and swollen.

4. Severe ingrown toenail: Failure to correct it for a long time can lead to acute paronychia or cause the nail edge to be under pressure for a long time, resulting in the growth of granulation tissue. The nail is extremely painful, the nail ridges on both sides are obviously red and swollen, and the color of the nail surface will also become dull and cloudy.

5. Nail nail type: The toenail is ingrown and clamped to the nail bed, causing separation between the toenail and nail bed due to long-term pressure. The side of the nail will become red and swollen, and the nail surface will become very narrow. Dead skin cells will accumulate, but there may not be any pain, which is often mistaken for onychomycosis (fungal nail infection).

6. Severe overgrown nail: The toenail curves inward, curling around the nail bed and causing nail bed separation. There is excessive dead skin and keratin buildup at the base of the nail, and the nail surface appears dull and lackluster, often mistaken for onychomycosis (fungal nail infection). Pain may begin to accompany the nail.
